The last honest cowboy
Tekst og musik: Ivan Pedersen

They pulled his leg - the last honest cowboy
they gave him a gun callin' him free,
they made a hero of the last honest cowboy
for all the world to see

They gave him wheels - the last honest cowboy
roads to travel 'n gas for free,
this country was heaven for the last honest cowboy
and the only place to be.

And he would work so hard
he'd make money, if he was smart
last dollar burnin' in his hand
would pay for the whiskey for the band
just to repent his empty pockets in church
and Monday start again
promising that this time he'd win
Ah - but his loosing streak
at the end of the week
was guaranteed like his Sundays in church.

They gave him a flag - the last honest cowboy
they gave him pride, and some values in life
He got a family the last honest cowboy
three kids - a dog - and a wife.

They gave him freedom - the last honest cowboy
freedom to kill if needed be
to believe what he wanted, and to say what he meant
to a certain degree.

And he would work so hard
he'd make money and he thought he was smart
with what he had to pay
twelue hours a day
never seem to quite meet the demands
to Monday start again
his expenses never came to an end
he had two weekly shrinks
who told him poverty stinks
ripping him off while they were shakin' his hand

They pulled his leg - the last honest cowboy
lettin' him note, callin' him free
they made a hero of the last honest cowboy
for all the world to see.
